In 2002, amfAR is joining with Broadway Cares for a special Seasons of
Hope celebrating the spirit of New York. This fourth Seasons of Hope,
a black-tie gala, will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner
and presentations of original tributes to the spirit of New York, composed
especially for this event by renowned authors and playwrights. |

BACKGROUND |

Since 1998, amfAR’s Seasons of Hope gala has become one of New
York City’s most successful and high-profile AIDS benefits. |
|
|
|
|
|
The first Seasons of Hope event honored Clive Davis, Tom Hanks,
and Barbara Walters and featured entertainment by Sean “Puffy” Combs, Barry
Manilow, and Whitney Houston. At Seasons of Hope 1999, “Awards of
Courage” were presented to Sharon Stone, Robin Williams, and Quincy Jones by
Michael Douglas, Billy Crystal, and Clive Davis, respectively. And in 2000,
the Seasons of Hopehonored Rosie O’Donnell, Natasha Richardson, and
Kenneth Cole. Each of these events raised well over $1 million in support
for essential AIDS research. |
