We (POZ Canada) are now trying for government funding so we may Incorporate (not for profit) and open an office downtown Toronto (as a start). This office will house office spaces for Canadian Hetero POZ Community, POZ Canada, HIVdate.com/HIVforum.com, a gay community head office, addiction office, std office, and HIV Prevention for Youth. I already have 75% of board members chosen and I already have most of the staff decided. Volunteers will be accepted. Proposal writers/fund seekers will given a small percentage if the volunteer. Email hivaids@9lbs.com (if you do not have email, use this form) to give ideas or to volunteer.
Ø Our Strategic Mission:
|
Our main goal is to
prevent HIV and AIDS. A Prevention Convention in every larger town
will be booked (hopefully partnered with other safety risk groups such as
Poison Control). Fund raisers with entertainment will be held Nation
wide in major cities. A Prevention Tour where a bus travels across Canada to spread
HIV/AIDS prevention (from clean needles to safe sex) stopping at small
communities (large cities usually have enough
resources, so we must bring the resources to the smaller forgotten
communities) handing out condoms
and pamphlets to everyone. We hope to have wireless internet and a few
computers so we can show people how and where to go on the internet for
many great services on our sites (chat, meeting, help lines, message
forums, housing, jobs, etc) and other organization and
government web sites. Every library in Canada has the internet for public
use, so we need to show people how to access these resources and how
to use them to their advantage. We have found many support groups online. |
Ø Our Partnership Objective:
|
We must include individuals, organizations, and the government to insure that our strategic mission is fulfilled. Our primary source of volunteers will be from the secondary and university levels, through O.A.C, Work Co-op, and community service programs. Our focus with volunteer students is to develop job creation and provide job placement. We must improve access to information and protection. |
Other focuses:
Allow HIV/AIDS affected persons to share their personal stories of health, hope, and other experiences. Also a way to meet others with similar life stories through email groups, online personals/ads, chat lines, phone hotlines. This will help keep up with peoples social needs.
Use all resources to promote HIV Prevention & AIDS Awareness to the public (North America). Even those in rural towns must be focused (pamphlets and posters in libraries, hospitals, medical centers, and schools giving information and web site addresses for more research), we can effect change for the better.
Continue being honest, reliable, responsible and
sensitive to the needs of others. We are compassionate. We care and are
concerned about the Human Race vs. HIV/AIDS (regardless of race, sexual
preference, creed, color, religion, etc).
Keeping our servers and our websites online (internet). These sites have many
needed tools and information (videos, research, trials, risks, meeting services,
etc) and we are constantly working on them to add more needed information and
links.
We wish to start a computer donation program where the public can donate old software, computer parts or even a full system. All data on these computers will be thoroughly destroyed. These computers will be refurbished/assembled and then donated to our clients who do not have a computer at home and/or do not live close to a library. Many free internet deals out these days with 1-800-access (free because they place advertising all around your screen).
